สเตนเลสคืออะไร? “สเตนเลส” หรือชื่ออย่างเป็นทางการ คือ “เหล็กกล้าไร้สนิม” เป็น ศัพท์ทั่วไปที่ใช้เรียกเหล็กใน กลุ่มที่มีความต้าน ทานการกัดกร่อนสูง สเตนเลสเป็นโลหะผสมระหว่างเหล็กและคาร์บอน ซึ่งส่วนประกอบจะมีปริมาณคาร์บอนต่ำ มีโครเมียม เป็นส่วนผสมหลัก ประมาณ 10.5 % หรือมากกว่าทำให้เกิดการสร้างฟิล์มโครเมียมออกไซด์ (chromium oxide film : CrO2 หรือเรียกว่า passive film)
